I am using Blogger at the moment, as I am a complete newb, and am not trying to sell anything. I have done a little tweaking to it, such as changing the layout a little, and getting rid of the navigation bar across the top. There are all kinds of tuts available out there for it. From what I understand, Wordpress is highly customizable, and easy to navigate as well. I may move to that in the future, when I feel like paying for a domain name and hosting, but for now, what I have suits my needs fairly well.

Wordpress has a bunch of photoblog-type options, including plugins and themes to help. I'm using the "Yet Another PhotoBlog" plugin. I also set up ZenPhoto as a gallery. There are ways to do galleries in Wordpress, too, but I liked the admin options in ZenPhoto a little better.
You might want to take a look at jAlbum. I tried this out, and it's pretty simple and easy to use. I almost went with this for my gallery. Are there specific option you've looked at? What did you like / dislike about some of these? |

I have a friend that i believe uses blogger, so i went to what i thought was that site it was createblog.com or something along those lines. I was lost! lol
I only want to post some pics to show to family and friends that i have taken the pics of, don't need a fancy one just somehting with the basics until i figure it out. I'm sure once i jump in I will learn more. Jalbum huh? Ok i will look into that one. As i said i had been messing around with the free websites to do this with then second guessed myself and thought a blog might be more practical for me right now? But if it's that difficult...IDK. Thanks for the feedback I'll go check those out!

If you want to create a blog on blogger, just go to blogger.com. If I remember correctly, about the only questions they ask are your contact info, what you want the name of your blog to be, what template you want to use, and whether you want search engines to index it. I'm not sure what createblog.com does, but getting a blog on blogger is as easy as singing up for other google services.
That said, if you want something that gives you a little more control over layout, and that can be used as a website, I'd recommend signing up for a blog at wordpress.com. |

One thing to bear in mind when you look at Wordpress.com is that you're not going to be able to install plugins like YAPB. If you're happy with the capabilities you get from Wordpress.com, then that's not an issue, obviously, but if you need more control, you'd have to host Wordpress on your own server (most likely from a hosting provider).

I use blogger.com. Took me less than an hour to set-up the blog. You can use the defaults, or tweak it as much as you want to suit you. It's a nice easy way to put something of yourself on the net. If you use other google services it ties itself in with those quiet seamlessly.

From a web developer that concentrates in blogging platforms and content management systems.
Start out with a free site from wordpress.com because you will likely end up using wordpress in the future. Wordpress can be migrated and expanded after the fact where blogger cannot. With blogger you are locked in to Google servers and services. Wordpress can be expanded into a complete CMS system including E-commerce or it can be integrated into a larger site or as a part of a larger CMS/E-commerce system. It is very flexible. That being said, blogger does offer more for free than wordpress.com and it is possible to migrate a blog from blogger to wordpress but to do it well is an advanced skill.
