Someone on another board brought up a valid point about that site though....there could be copyright infringement going on if these photos were lifted from blogs/sites/etc. and posted on this site without permission. No matter how bad they are, they're still the property of the "photographers".

Here is another one. I don't like it very much, because they seem to be making fun of their potential client base. Being in the retail industry as long as I have, it doesn't make much sense to me from a business standpoint to be basically telling people they are "stupid" for having certain tastes.
They do their own set up shots though. They don't seem to be using anyone else's work. They have a FB page too, with quite a following. Mostly other photographers. Take Off Your Mommy Goggles - resources for Professional Photographers and consumers |

It'd actually fall under parody/satire, which is a valid defense. That, and you can't argue with the truth: they're not claiming the images as their own, only showing them.

WOW... what a couple of bitches to put up a site for the purpose of ripping others apart!I'm interested in knowing where they got these photos they are posting? How do they know they are done by people trying to pass themselves off as professionals? I saw one with the photographer's name crossed out but the other ones could easily have been regular folks just trying to take some photos. Who knows... maybe they took the photos themselves just to create a mean-spirited blog in an attempt to get some attention. If they did lift the photos from others then I hope they get a big fat copyright lawsuit slapped against them. It's also rather pot-calling-the-kettle black of them considering any moron can setup a website and from what I've seen.... theirs is about as poor as they come in terms of structure, appearance and content. Snobbery is not a good thing. It says more about the snobs themselves than it does about the people they are judging from up there on their pedestal. Just my .02 |

Yeah, the two probably are snobby bitches. But sites like this do not offend me in the least. I feel that they provide a valuable service by possibly informing consumers. There are so many REAL photographers out there. Those who have been photographers for years and really know what they are doing. And there are new photographers, like me, who take this very seriously. who are busting their butts to try to learn, grow, and become the real deal someday. And then there are these people, as represented on this site, who think that they can pick up a camera, put it on auto and shoot away with no thought, no learning, no nothing. In my experience, these people have hoards of friends and family members cheering them on, putting them on a pedestal and stroking their ego to the point that they cannot see that they may possibly have even the tiniest bit of room for improvement. They have no humility. At all. So this type of thing, a parody, is the only thing that will speak to them, because their egos are just too big.
Just speaking from my personal experience here. Not that I am the know all, be all. But I have met a few of these fauxtographers in my day and it really ticks me off that I can spend hours and hours working, studying, practicing, etc and they have the audacity to think that it is as easy and popping the camera on auto and shooting away. |
