Default Blink Reflex

I'm just going through some post processing on some wedding photos and I'm thinking "WTF is wrong with this kids eyes?" Every shot he appears mid-blink, I think I'm going to have to shop some eyes on.

Has anyone ever encountered subjects who seem to have a very fast blink reflex to flash? Thinking about it, my sister always manages to blink when I take shots - and I mean always, like 8-9/10 shots of her she'll have her eyes closed.

I know that blue eyes are more sensitive than any other colour - I have blue eyes and have trouble with light/chlorine/water etc etc. My sister has blue eyes and so does this kid. Having said that, his brother has blue eyes but they are fully open in the shots of him.

I never really thought about it, but yeah, I'm blinking in most pictures unless I focus on not blinking, and I also have problems with chlorine, and slight problems with water.
And yes I have blueish-greenish eyes

Blue eyes actually are more sensitive to changing light, especially bright light.

The blink is likely a result of the TTL pre-flash that fires before exposure to determine the power level the camera will need. THe subject blinks on the preflash and when the camera takes a picture a fraction of a second later, their eyes are still closed (or half open). You can fix this by using a manual flash, but you need to know how much power to use.

The ones of this kid was with an off camera flash on manual :P Maybe he just has ninja reflexes :P

Reminds me, last night I was in a club and they had this official photographer in there. I can't lie, she was hot. But she had a Fuji bridge camera and used the popup flash :/ I cringed a little and gave her my business card :P

(Had to make a new thread omfg)
