Default Photographer's 6th sense?

Is it just me, or can you feel the slight change of weight and balance when there is no memory card in your camera?

I know it is a pretty big difference without the battery, anyone can feel that.
But how about without the memory card? Can you feel it?

lol, I probably sound like a madwoman!

I guess you're using those 64 GB cards, that's where the weight comes from.

I can't feel anything, and my camera takes only SDs..

I can tell the weight change in my d700, but only if a light lens (like my 35 2) is attatched to it, If I have a big lens on the d700 - like my 24 1.4, I can't tell.
I can never seem to tell with my ep-1

Psychophysiologists early in the 19th century calculated the "just noticeable difference" or JND AKA Weber's law.

Here's a link to how to calculate it for two weights:

Weber's Law

Frankly, I doubt you could detect the difference at least 50% of the time, the standard for the JND, but you could run an experiment with a friend and see.

That's actually my 14th sense, not 6th.

Interesting. Now, anyone know what an 8GB SD card weighs? I don't have a scale of any sort.

In the Canon system, you can go into menu and set your settings so that the camera won't fire without a CF card.

Is it like:
"Did I turn off the faucet on the bathtub 'enlightenment', 200 miles into your road trip" thing?

or,
"I dreamt I ate these crunchy wafers in my dream, and when I woke up, all my CF cards have gone missing" syndrome?

I guess its your Jedi senses.

Sorry for spilling the beans, but you are a Jedi, aren't you?
