Hi, I have just joined your forum, my name is Bob and I have a question.
I have a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and I try to use it in fully manual mode as much as possible, one of the things that frustrates me, is that even though you choose to shoot in manual mode you is that you cannot add in any exposure compensation, although you can do it in "P", Av or Tv" modes. Does anyone have any work around for this or is it just a fact of life. |

Hi Bob, welcome to DPS!
Just adjust your aperture/shutter speed to over/underexpose when shooting in manual. |

EV +/- is to override the camera's recommended setting in P, Av or Tv modes. When you shoot in manual mode (nothing to override), you can use the 'Exposure Level Indicator' as your reference and adjust the EV by changing the aperture or shutter speed.

Just how it works. Shift your aperture, shutter speed, or iso setting, and you'll note your light meter is now your light meter, not your exposure compensation scale. You'll still move the "needle" where you want it to go, though.
