Good morning,
Finally, after purchasing a Rebel XS and using this amazing site for a year, I'm registered...thank you for all the detailed information on photography! I have so many questions but will start with trying to understand the forum rules. I have read through everything on the site but do not understand the difference between sticky notes and threads. Every time I click on a sticky note, I get a blank page. Also, yesterday, I mistakenly sent a private message to someone (asking about photo organization + naming) thinking it was a thread and for that, I apologize. Signed, New and learning!

In a nutshell a post is one persons comment, a thread is a group of posts that are replies to one comment. So my comment here would be my post, the conversation then becomes a thread.
A "Sticky" or "Sticky Post" is a post by someone (usually a mod) that always appears at the top of the forum. They can be threads but are often just single posts such as "Read the Rules First" etc. HTH and welcome to DPS

Since you were so quick to respond (and thank you!) may I also ask, why it says you "may not post" to this thread on the page on which I was reading your response...

Oh yeah heh, somethings on the blink. You can either click "remember me" or do a hard refresh a few times (Ctrl-F5) - that's what I have to do at work :P
