Default Newspaper - engagement announcement debacle

I just heard from an acquaintance of mine that our local newspaper would not print their engagement announcement because their child was in the photo with them. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? I think it is completely ridiculous!!

is it a paid announcement? If so, they should do whatever is in the photo. If its free, the paper has the right to refuse for whatever reason.

Because they've decided getting married when you have a child is immoral or they're "protecting" the kid? Either one is ridiculous, but I'm just curious.

I know of one paper near me that will not print birth announcements without a signed release from both parents. Cuts down on the numbers of unwed teen moms announcing births.

A. Why are unwed moms' announcements less important than married ones?
B. Is it really that big of a problem?

No - it's not a paid article, it's a small town so it's more like the paper is trying to fill space...at least that's the way it seems but the articles that are on the front page.
Apparently they said it was a bad photo. And they mentioned that the couldn't print it because their child was in it. What ever happened to the news being non-biased?? Two papers in surrounding towns printed it and I guess they just chose not to have a different picture submitted to this paper because it is important to them that their child is considered an important part of the wedding.
