Anyone using wordpress to create an online photo gallery?
Just curious... If you are - How are you doing it? There`s alot of paid stuff available it seems, web design and html are some skills that I am sorely lacking - any recommendations for learning? Thanks =D |

I use wordpress for my blog, and it includes a gallery.
I'm not sure what you're asking - are you looking for somewhere to just show your photos, or somewhere to display them for sale?

Edit: of course, now that I get a chance to read through it, it's really mostly about getting Wordpress up and running. [insert Homer Simpson "D'oh!" here] Last edited by IABoomer; 02-16-2011 at 05:20 AM. |

I don't have a photo gallery, but I do use Wordpress. The easiest thing to do is to look at photography-based themes for Wordpress. Maybe one of them will work for you out of the box, and you won't have to do any coding.
![]() In the Wordpress dashboard, go to: Appearance -> Themes Click on the "Install Themes" tab. Set the "photoblogging" checkbox under the Subject list, and click the Find Themes button. This should grab you a bunch of themes that are specifically for making photo streams. Autofocus is one that I've seen used on a ton of photo sites. If you do decide that you want to go past a stock theme, then the three things you're probably going to need to learn are html, css, and php, and very specifically the wordpress PHP functions. This is a lot to take on if you've never done any web authoring before, but it can be done. The Wordpress Codex is the main site for learning all about Wordpress and its attendant parts and calls.

Graph Paper Press has some really sophisticated and flexible WP themes. And they're cool people.

I'm also using Graph Paper Press' Sidewinder theme which is excellent and very clean.. gallery uploads are implemented the best way I have seen in any WP theme.
