Default Rest in Peace Kirby :(

Kirby was our good loyal friend for many years. He battled cancer for the last four years, and never gave up. He endured surgery several times, and always bounced back and continued to thrive. This last year he just about beat the cancer with experimental drugs. Unfortunately, his rear legs started to fail him. While he had a great weekend, Monday morning came and he was no longer able to get up and about by himself. He was never in pain, but would have no quality of life if he could not get around. We made the hard decision last night, and this morning sent him on his way to doggie heaven. He is survived by his adopted brother and sister Trent and Kaybee. Kirby you will be missed but never forgotten.

Kirby 3/28/1996 – 2/8/2011

Seated by his favorite spot in the back yard by the big rock.

Oh, I am so so sorry to hear about your loss. He must've been a great friend, and I know he had a great life with you.

Wow what a beautiful dog!! Gorgeous eyes.

Sorry for your loss but sounds like it was the best decision, and hopefully you can be comforted knowing his last days were painless. I've never owned a dog but the saying "man's best friend" isn't popular for no reason..

My sincerest sympathy to you all. I had to make the same hard decision last year to say goodbye to a furry friend of 13 years, although your head tells you its for the best, your heart still feels the pain.

My deepest sympathies. You know, I've never cried at any of the funerals for my relatives, but I cried when my family had to put our dog to sleep after he couldn't get around anymore. You get so attached to these guys...
