In short, because I love it.
Many reasons. From a creative point of view, I love making a photo happen. I love having a vision of what I want a photo to look like. I love the challenge of researching and playing with different settings and light scenarios to make the photo a reality. But on a personal level, I love recording our lives. I want to give my kids the gift of lots and lots of photos of their childhood when they are grown. Maybe they won't appreciate it, but it's all gonna be there anyways. As far as me being in the photos....well, I used to always always be the one behind the camera. But a few years ago, I realized that if you looked through our family albums that it appeared that my husband was a single father. I do not personally enjoy seeing photos of me for the most part, but I feel like my kids and grandkids will want to see me in photos when I am long gone. Just like I really enjoy looking at old photos of my mother, father, grandparents, etc. So I force myself to be in photos now. I do a lot of self timer photos to make sure that we are ALL in the shot. |

Allows my to be creative with no boundaries.. well, except my own due to lack of knowledge or equipment, etc. I am mediocre at best in other arts, but still feel an urge to create.. comes out in photography. Also, it is a form of accomplishment I have control over. When work or other areas of life fail to keep me motivated, I can set goals in photography and accomplish them to get that motivation and drive back, something I can be proud of!

It's cheaper than therapy, and I get more out of it

OH I am in a few of the photos, just enough to remind them I am not dead.
I also do it because I love it. I too am not an artistic person at all, although my hubby says my work is artistic, but I don't see it that way. I always wanted to paint or draw,But alas God gave me the heart of an artist and the hands and mind of an accountant. Photo is the only way I can create the art I see in my mind. |

I have no interest in plastering the net with photos of myself. Most of my friends are the same. Also, I speak Greek (as well as French, a little Italian and a speckling of German). ![]() As for your question, I do it because I love it. That's it in a nutshell.
