Default I want WARM!!!

It is so cold out today. Not really cold, about 32, but the wind chill is terrible. It sounds like my roof is ripped off.
I am dreaming about summer right now. I cannot wait to be warm again.
I started thinking about vacation. We still haven't completely decided where we are going this year. Last year, we went to Virginia Beach. The year before that, we went to Fort Myers Beach in Florida and then to Disney World. The year before that we went to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware. We are thinking about Myrtle Beach SC this year. Or maybe Outer Banks NC. Not sure. We have some friends who just moved near Myrtle though, so we are leaning in that direction so that we can see them.

So to all of you northern hemisphere folks, where are you going for vacation this summer?
And you southern hemisphere people, well just don't even think about rubbing it in that you are all warm and stuff right now, cause in 6 months, the tables will turn. But feel free to tell me about your vacations spots.

ok so i won't rub it in that it's 73 and sunny here today, as for our summer plans, we'll do the usual camping in the western North Carolina Mountains, where we usually stay for a month, but only for 2 weeks this year, then we're headed out to Alaska for 2 weeks..should be really fun and interesting this year! Can't wait till July, and the heat and humidity here will be stifling by then..

Damn straight! Bring on the WARM! It's -10F here right now and I'm sick of it. When I was young, I liked winter and always wondered why so many retired folks went south for the winter. The older I get, the more I get it.

We always go at least once annually to the Lake Superior North Shore in Minnesota. Got that one planned for early June. Also thinking about heading to the Badlands and NE Wyoming for a getaway weekend for some more photo opportunities. It's been awhile since we've been there.

Mostly, I'm looking forward to a 90 degree day with short sleeves doing 70 on my bike in the blessed humidity.

Some people like the cold.. I'm with you though, not a fan of freezing. I don't mind visiting the snow but I don't want to live in it! I'm in southern California so we don't have seasons.. just nice weather. It does get a little chilly every once in a while, I guess

But starting in May I vacation at Lake Powell once a month:

Wetherill Canyon

And although it's not freezing here, I still can't wait for the hot hot weather!

Sounds like you've been on some nice trips, I would like to visit the east coast more

Wait, it's all warm and stuff here right now? News to me. We've had a glorious "summer" here that's been averaging around 50-60 degrees and rain... and wind... yeah... Totally summer weather. I mean, sure it's not sub-zero or anything, but it's not quite feeling like summer either.

Mid 50s but sunny in southwest Florida this afternoon. Chilly for Feb., but I like it.
As far as vacations go - hmmm... am hoping to spend a week or two up in NYC/Long Island area visiting family and friends.
Couple of years ago we rented a 7-bedroom house on the ocean in Duck, Outer Banks. fabulous vacation! I'd recommend it, Nicole. My sisters, their spouses and SOs, my sons, my mom, and I had a great time. Heated pool. Big hot tub. Game room. Theater. Etc. Etc. Etc.

I totally understand how you feel about the cold, Nicole. I am so tired of the snow and gray days.

We go to Myrtle Beach each summer as a big family and everyone likes to do different things. There's golfing, beaches, touristy entertainment, mini-golf, water parks, plenty of restaurants and some quiet areas, too. Something for all ages, tots, teens and parents, so overall it works out well.

I'm managing to survive in the 60 degree weather here with no clouds in sight. Got a two week camping trip planned this summer in Zion, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands & Arches National Parks. Looking forward to revisiting these parks now that I have my DSLR

Lake Powell looks good too. Will have to make it out there sometime. I also hope to take a short trip to Lake Tahoe in the Fall and hopefully squeeze in a short camping trip to Sequoia NP.

We have had the opposite problem.

Richmond is about 1/2 drive from where I live

""Another record set for the maximum was at Richmond, they had seven days exceeding 35c (95F) in this heat spell as well.""

Re vacations.
If it is a big one it will be touring to the Northern Hemisphere, usually in autumn.
Last one was Canadian Rockies (A magical place for scenery and good for wildlife), Quebec Province (Quebec is one of those cites it is very easy to fall in love with) and New England in the fall. We flew home via Paris (It is cheaper to fly around the world than to fly back home from eastern Canada.)

For a small one it is usually a week or so based in a region, usually not more than 2 days easy drive from home (Sydney, Australia), and we will just explore the area.

The last one was in Merimbula, a small seaside town, on our states far south coast.
