I noticed alot of people helping out the person looking for a computer. Since I work in IT computers is a thing I love. So lets hear about your computer setups? This is not a Mac vs Windows so please don't make those kind of comments to start the war. This should also be your main daily computer if you own 5 like me the list might get lengthy lol. If you run Windows then also include the version of Windows since the computer could be any manufacturer.
15" MacBook Pro, Unibody, 8GB RAM, 320GB hard drive, Mac OS X and Windows 7 running in parrallel via VMware Fusion, 2x 1TB external hard drives, one connected to the Mac side and one connected to the Windows side.

My "main" desktop is a Core2 Q9400 (4 cores @ 2.67GHz), 8G RAM, with mirrored 1TB drives. Windows 7-64 Ultimate. If I were to build a system for myself today, I'd do something along these lines. Since I picked up a passable laptop, though, I find myself using that a whole lot more, and just remote-desktop'ing into my main PC.

We have quite a few computers, but mine is a Toshiba laptop with 4gigs of RAM and 250 gig hard drive, 64 bit, Windows 7.
We have three other laptops that the kids use, they are various brands and are basically just the cheap ones that you can pick up for $299 if you watch for sales. Hubby has a monster work computer that he built himself. I have no idea what the specs are on it though. He runs all kind of fancy programs to do his drafting work....so I basically just don't touch it. He also has another computer tower hooked up to his monitor that he uses for surfing the web....he doesn't want to risk ever getting a virus on his work computer, so he just flips a little switch when he gets online. We also have a 250g EHD that is just about full. We really need to get on top of our back up system and upgrade a bit. Last edited by NicoleScraps; 02-02-2011 at 03:39 PM. |

I purchased an HP desktop pc at Fry's and a 22" LG monitor a couple of years ago. The pc is a 2.6 Ghz Quad-core with 4GB RAM and Nvidia 8600 video card. Two 500 GB hard drives. It's got the Vista
64-bit OS. 250 GB external HD. Someday, I hope to be able to afford a system like Scooter...
