Default Weatherproofing Photo's

Hi All

I'm not sure that this is the correct place to put this question, I hope so, but please move me if needed.

My Question,

I have an outdoor space I would like to put some of my pictures, and i'm worried about how the weather (moisture) will damage any that I put out there. Is there a preferred method of waterproofing the actual print itself ?

Lisa

Lisa, I know of no method, but that doesn't mean one doesn't exist. Back in the old days of film processing the print paper was probably a little less damaged by moisture because making the print was a wet process. Today's digital printing is different...different paper, and a different process. Any drops of water on digital paper will be damaging...so it's probably not advised

There is waterproof paper such as the type on which menus and field books are printed, Lisa.

I have often sprayed a dull or semi-gloss shellack on photos or cards that need to be “waterproofed.” Then there is waterproofing liquid such as Thompson’s Water Seal.

Two pieces of glass with the photo in between, then sealed at the edges.

Lamination; which looks a bit cheesy, but it works—for a while anyway.

Nothing will work if they really get wet.

Thank you! thank you! for the replies...

I will try the methods offered, but i'm thankful prints from digital media are re-printable if damaged!
