Default 50 mm

Ok, I bid on two 50 mm lenses (plastic) on E-Bay and lost both to bids that were close/over $100.00 including a UV (ten bucks) filter. You can buy new for that! I do not understand why......I'm going to order a new one. I honestly didn't think the used ones would command so much. It just doesn't make any sense.

I think people want to "win" on EBay, no matter what the cost.

Try Craigslist instead. You will probably find a better price, and get to touch it and try it before you hand over your money.

There are some great deals on e-bay, there are also many things that sell for new + price. People just get lazy. I sold a range finder for $83 that sells new with a case for 30 bucks everywhere online. I have no idea why they paid that much, but I was pretty happy.

People get carried away on ebay because it's always only 50p more. Even if that puts you £200 over budget :P I say set a price in your head and stick to it. If there's a fight on, it's going to rocket up. You're best chance is watching a low bid item and sniping it at the end

I just bought one brand new (Canon) 50mm 1.8 for $107 total on eBay. Craigslist is a waste of time unless you are already there perusing for an escort service.

Never buy one of these used when you can get one new. They command the same price new or used so why end up with a lens that someone has had their booger pickers all over when you can have new?.
