Default Hello folks - newbie from Scotland!

Hi there, just thought I should start here before I post!
My name is Brian and I would call myself a hobby photographer, nothing more than that but it is something I really love.
I have a few cameras, mostly I use a Fuji S200EXR and a recent purchase, a second hand Canon EOS 300d Digital Rebel (my first taste of DSLR).
When it comes to photography, I love nature and landscapes as well as taking pics of my Granddaughter at home. Biggest frustration (which no doubt I will be posting about) is taking pics of the moon.

Anyways, see you on the other forum areas!

Brian.

Hi Brian!

Welcome to DPS. I'm pretty new here too

There's a fantastic thread about moon photography on here somewhere. I was looking at it yesteday. Look up the member 'Arlon' and you'll find it. Good Luck!

Thanks all - just realised I should have posted on the introductions post.
Not the best moon really, like I said, I struggle with it (along with many other types of pic) but that was an older one - have dozens more now so need to create a new album for them on flickr and upload them. I did look through the jaw-dropping moon pics on here and that has made me feel even more inadequate
West of Scotland is in my opinion a photographers paradise but I live on the East however am going over for a week in April to glorious Lochaber area so hopefully will be able to gather a few pics whilst I am there
Ah Tegan my granddaughter - I have probably taken more photos of her in the past 3 years than anything else but most are on Facebook or my photobucket - she is quite photogenic if slightly unwilling at times!
Another new flickr project required I feel.

cheers, Brian

Avril, have you seen this link before? it really is an excellent Canon DSLR resource, it has helped me understand my 300d a lot. (Didn't necessarily make me any better though ).

Hello and welcome!
It's funny you should mention the moon, I've had a few shots recently (and one tonight funnily enough). It looks like I have the same problem as you - the lens just doesn't reach that far :P
These were with a 75-300mm then cropped in. Infact tonight I used the "live view zoom check live focus" thingy and you could actually watch the moon fly across the screen - it was really moving at a rate of knots, unreal.

Anyway, Full moon is set for tomorrow! so get out there!

...... Just looked at your EXIF, looks like you where photographing the moon at the same time as me :P

The Moon
