Default Changing the mount of a lens

Is it possible to change the mount of an old Tamron SP 28-80mm lens to a nikon mount? I think the mount at the moment is an olympus mount.

If it is possible do you think it would be worth it? Thanks

The amount of time and money required wouldn't be worth the effort.

Don't be a cheapskate and just buy a new lens.

I am sure you could, but I seriously doubt the AF would work. There would just be no electronic comms.

Does it say Adaptall on the lens? If it is a Tamron Adaptall lens, then you can easily fit it with a Nikon mount. Adaptall lenses were made to be easily interchangeable between different mounts / camera brands.

All you would have to do is buy a Nikon Adaptall mount (around 20 $ on eBay). You'll also have to take note of whether it's Adaptall or Adaptall 2 lens (1st or 2nd generation) and buy the corresponding adapter/mount.

You will have to manually focus it. I have one Adaptall 2 lens (in my signature) and I'm very happy with it. It's great optically and it's built like a tank.

I'm a student and get no money, getting a new lens isn't really an option.

It says Adaptall on the lens cap so I suppose it is the first generation.

Thanks for this information I will look into it further.

You're welcome! This website offers the most information on Adaptall system: adaptall-2.org
Btw, is this the lens we're talking about: Tamron SP Adaptall-2 28-80mm F/3.5-4.2 Model 27A

I guess it's Adaptall 2 (and all other SPs seem to be).
I think Adaptall lenses are great because they are pretty good performers optically and can be found for relatively low money. I even considered getting myself another one.
