Default Tagging along with a local photog. Any tips?

Hi everyone, the other day I asked one my local photographers if I could help him out with some of his shoots as an assistant/second shooter. He said he has an engagement session on the 29th that would be good for me. Do you guys have any tips or suggestions? Also I'll probably meet with him sometime before the shoot, are there any specific questions I should ask? Thanks!

Really these questions are for him.... every photog is different in the way they work. The one fellow I second shoot for is happiest when he sets up the shots and I shoot. Another one wants me to do detail work while he is primary. If he has long glass, I have short etc. etc. Others want you to hold lights and stay out of the way. It really depends on him.

The main questions I would have are: what are his expectations from you, how he envisions you working together etc.

Agreed with Scott's reply.

I'd also ask if there is any gear that you might have, that you should bring along. Lenses and such.
How should you dress?

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.

@scootermcq: Yeah, I see what your saying. I'll keep that in mind.

@faeriegodess612: He specifically mentioned a 50mm 1.4, and/or any other fast lens. Didn't think about the clothing thing, thanks for mentioning it.
