Default Free Photoshop Express

Great news everyone...

Photoshop express has just launched - a free online version of photoshop for everyone to enjoy.

It covers the basic photo fixing tools such as exposure, colour adjustments etc etc etc and is perfect for those quick fixes.

A couple of big plus points for it:
** Its not processing things on your local PC, so the grunt work is done elsewhere... so if your computer is a little older this should still work at full speed!
** Its FREE!

It doesn't have layers or the more advanced tools, but for those quick fixes it seems perfect.

Check it out at http://photoshop.com/express/

Oooh, excellent. Granted, I use CS3, but I've been eager to have a look at this since I heard about it.

Sime - that's exactly my thoughts, for the few times I use my work machine to edit shots, I can now go straight to this rather than having to use some horrid programme that comes as part of our laptop standard build or using 'unauthorised software' (portable gimp) - schweet!

I've had a quick play and its pretty good for the basics, and very user friendly.

Best of all it intergrates straight into picasa / facebook / photobucket albums and lets you edit them directly and save them back to where they came from (Flickr is to follow shortly). Now that is very handy!

I would strongly suggest reading the "fine print" carefully. Hint: nothing is free

If you found something in the EULA that's important, just say it instead of making veiled references.

From what I've read, it sounds like Adobe is going after the Flickr/Picasa market, with added editing functionality. There will still be a free version after the beta test, and a pay version for people who want more storage and editing capability.

edit: I read through the terms (which are surprisingly concise) and privacy pages. I didn't find anything untoward or shady.

I agree, all the amount of "actively" (info they have knowingly and freely provided) shared information about most people on the web is dwarfed by the amount of "passive" (information collected by companies and sold for profit, without the user being aware, stolen info, info the user may not have realized he was giving) information. Adobe already has all the info they could need/want on me anyways...

Also, just played with it for a few minutes and I think I can now uninstall PSE5 from my work laptop, where its not necessarily supposed to be anyways ( I do have a private laptop with photo editing software that I take on trips...).

Played around with it for a bit this afternoon. Seems to run a little slow - took a while to load images - and the help button isn't working. Other than that, seems like a basic program similar to Picasa and Piknik.
