I registered from NZ without any problems. And the "personal sharing URL" is just like when you personalize your address at Flickr. for example, mine is nicole.photoshop.com

Thanks Nicole, I downloaded it, ignoring the country, and leaving the default United States. And I used my Flickr address as you suggested.

It does not seem to offer much more if indeed as much as Picasa. It is much slower than Picasa. For anyone wanting a quick and easy basic fix for photos, I would stick with Piacasa Douglas

I agree with Drec. Try the Gimp. Like all the programs, it is a bit daunting to begin with but there are plenty of tutorials out there. There are many people on D.P.S using it.

Just an update, Adobe is changing their Terms of Use based on the feedback that they received about the previous ones. The updated terms will go into effect on 10 April 2008 and can be found here. Most of the changes focus on the licensing rights. Previously it said:
Quote:
Adobe does not claim ownership of Your Content. However, with respect to Your Content that you submit or make available for inclusion on publicly accessible areas of the Services, you grant Adobe a worldwide, royalty-free, nonexclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, and fully sublicensable license to use, distribute, derive revenue or other remuneration from, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, publicly perform and publicly display such Content (in whole or in part) and to incorporate such Content into other Materials or works in any format or medium now known or later developed.
It now says:
Quote:
Adobe does not claim ownership of Your Content. However, we do need certain rights from you, with respect to Your Content, in order to operate the Service and in order to enable you to do all the things this Service affords you the ability to do. Therefore, with respect to Your Content, you grant Adobe a worldwide (because the internet is global), royalty-free (meaning we do not owe you any money), nonexclusive (meaning you are free to license Your Content to others) fully sublicensable (so that we can permit our affiliates, subcontractors and agents to deliver the Service on our behalf) license to use, reproduce and modify Your Content solely for the purposes of operating the Service and enabling your use of the Service. With respect to Your Shared Content, you additionally grant Adobe the rights to distribute, publicly perform and publicly display Your Shared Content (in whole or in part) for the sole purposes of operating the Service and enabling your use of the Service and to sublicense Your Shared Content to Other Users subject to the limitations of Section 7 below. These limited licenses do not grant Adobe the right to sell or otherwise license Your Content or Your Shared Content on a stand alone basis. Further, you may terminate Adobe’s right to distribute, publicly perform and publicly display Your Shared Content by making it no longer shared.

Default Photoshop Express

I started using Photoshop Express about a week ago and I wanted to write up a mini review of my impressions.

Internet Connection: This is obviously a limiting factor when using an online image editor. Faster is clearly better. Took me about half an hour to upload 37 images (aprox. 2.5Mb per image). Transfered these images to Facebook and it appeared to freeze halfway through. I checked Facebook though and all of the pictures transferred successfully.

Interface: Love the charcoal look and simplicity. Ability to upload photos to Facebook, etc. is a nice bonus although I don't think I will find myself using it a whole lot. Flickr isn't supported.

Editing: Lots of different options for editing on-the-go. Three sets of commands include Basics (rotating, cropping, red-eye, exposure), Tuning (white balance, highlights, sharpening), and Effects (conversion to B/W, tinting, distortion). Live editing - as you mouse-over an option, you can see the predicted change before you actually click anything. This is a useful tool and you can get a pretty good idea of what things will look like ahead of time.

Overall: Considering it's beta, I really liked what I saw. Looks good and has enough basic options to keep beginner/intermediate photographers busy. Obviously, for more advanced editing options it doesn't stand up but it's not geared towards that field anyways. From a "mobile editing" standpoint, I think it's an impressive debut. There is a "Feedback" button in the top menu bar so it's easy to let Adobe know what you like and don't like. Whether they listen or not, I'm sure it will get faster/more stable as it is further developed.

I hope this helped and please comment about your own experiences with it or even compare it to your own preferred system. Thanks!

Thanks for that review Colby, I just moved your post into the Photoshop Express Thread to make it easier for people to find and so it doesn't get lost.

It covers the basic photo fixing tools such as exposure, colour adjustments etc etc etc and is perfect for those quick fixes.

A couple of big plus points for it:
** Its not processing things on your local PC, so the grunt work is done elsewhere... so if your computer is a little older this should still work at full speed!
** Its FREE!

It doesn't have layers or the more advanced tools, but for those quick fixes it seems perfect.

Check it out at http://photoshop.com/express/
Thanks for sharing. I'll diffinitely surf this site.

Has anybody figured out how you can save a new version of your picture without discarding the original?
