Question Is it bad or wrong to edit photos?

Hey guys

I was wondering if it's considered wrong or bad for a photographer to edit their photos, like increasing contrast or saturation, etc. Is it "against the rules" of a photographer?

Do any of you all edit your pictures?

Thanks for reading!

It's not bad. It's not wrong. It's not against any rules. And almost everybody is going to say yes, that they do editing to some degree on almost every photo.
But it is really a matter of whether you WANT to edit your photos or not.

It appears that it is considered normal to present and waste money printing SOOC shots in my camera club. I had a finished shot that has sold many times over that they ranked dead last in B class. Uncultured Swine I say.

Oh god this again?

Editing photos is a natural part of the image creation process. It always has been, from the early film days till now.

When I started photographing..I was really proud of SOOC!
But no...PP is required...!
A little bit here and there is always good!
Why not make a good photo better!

It completely depends on what the photos are taken for, and how the photos are to be used. A photojournalist or street photographer can do very little in the way of editing, or they can lose their jobs. Portrait artists are often paid TO edit.."Make me beautiful!". There are many, in the digital age, that take photos.. simply to act as the basis for another photo.

So, what do you want to edit and why?

@papa rotzziWell when i load my pictures to my computer I like to go through them and I start cropping and making it brighter or adding contrast... you see what I'm saying. My question was just asking if it's okay to fix it up a little bit like that. But I think I got my answer Thanks guys

& @harish sutar, nope, I just use the little dinky editing things my laptop comes with.
