Default Irritating!

Okay, I have four children and two step-children. I have been to literally dozens of school plays, performances, etc.
It never ever fails that my kid gets put on the opposite side of the stage from where I sit or they are in the back row behind some kid with a giant head and I cannot get any good photos!

Tonight, my youngest son (5yrs old) had a little singing thing at the school. Of course, he was in the back row and I had a heck of a time getting a good photo of him. Frustrating!
Anybody else seem to have this issue or am I just the lucky one?

think yourself lucky, over here schools have pretty much banned parents from brining any sort of cammera with them due to fear of peadophiles coming in and getting snaps of the little kids

personaly i think this is way over the top but hey maybe its because im not a parent

Yup, I have this problem too. Doesn't seem to matter which side of the room I sit on, the kid is on the other side. My son's school had their Christmas concert mid Dec, I was on the right side of the stage but being 10 he was towards the back and I was about 3 rows back in the seats. Lucky I had my telephoto lens with me!

How hard is it to find out where they are positioned ahead of time? There have to be rehearsals and such, no?

They rehearse during school time and if I ever ask the kids, they have no idea. I mean, with the big kids, like when my stepdaughter was in ballet and doing the Nutcracker, we would know ahead of time what part she had and where would be the best place to sit, but the little guys are just randomly lined up in two rows, singing songs to us for the most part.

pedophile, schmedophile. Who cares if they come in and photograph fully-clothed kids? Big deal.
Im cool with banning photography for another reason.. you have the idiot parents that rush down front with their cameras trying to videotape/photograph every aspect of the kid's life, who don't care who they trample, how much of a spectacle they make of themselves, and who's way they are getting in. On the other side you have the idiots who don't understand that no, your flash will NOT illuminate your kid from the back row of the auditorium,or they just don't know how to turn it off, so you cant see your own kid for the paparazzi flash blindness going on.
Of course, at some events they have a photographer for you, more than willing to sell you an overpriced print of your kid on stage for thirty bucks. Thats another reason they might ban it.

Omg Nicole! That happened to my in my daughters Scrooge performance! I specifically asked her what side of the hall she will be on (she was in the choir) and she said on the right by the climbing aperatus so I got there really early and got a great seat only she was on the opposite side of the hall by the library

In all my son's performances I've been really lucky and he's always been dead in front of me.
