Default What is the correct protein diet for a vegetarian like me?

I ve joined a gym for weight gain and muscle building and when i inquired about the diet they told me to take lots of protein and eat a lot.

Good question!! I joined a gym too and yesterday the instructor handed me a leaflet on some nutritional tips and its says that you need to eat plenty of carbs to give you energy and for optimal workout performance. Research suggests that by reducing the intake of carbs can cause premature fatigue and tiredness and even poorer concentration.

As a vegetarian its good to eat porrige or muesli or breakfast preferrably 2 hours before a workout. Lunch a baked potato with baked beans and salad and for dinner a chunky vegetable soup with lots of filling veg such as celery, carrots, cabbage, sweet potatoes, tinned tomatoes and a whole meal bread roll. Its important to eat regularly and if you get hungry between meals much on a few bananas - slow release energy!

Good luck!

Looks like you are the opposite of me. I'm trying to lose weight and tone up without adding extra bulky muscle.

If you still use milk products, just get a good grade of whey protein. It has plenty of calories.

For proper diet advice, consult a Registered Dietitian. Anything else is anecdotal and hearsay. What works for one person, may not work for another. Only a Dietitian can tell you what your diet should be.

Anyone want to take bets on whether or not the OP ever returns, and if they do, whether or not they will offering up some thinly disguised SPAM for lunch?

Of course, I could be completely wrong, but that's a pretty odd first post for a PHOTOGRAPHY forum, even if it is in the GCC area.
