Default Inevitable Probability

The inevitable probability that one day at the most critical moment...your batteries will die. My day came yesterday. I was at the Mummers Parade taking pictures and I had an amazing shot lined up. The composition was perfect. I hit the shutter and...nothing. Blank deadness. Dead batteries. By the time I put in fresh ones, the moment was gone. Oh well, guess I'm part of the "lost one to dead batteries" club now.

you need to get more than one battery and keep them inside your coat. Sometimes I use a vest underneath my coat to keep them warm.

Yes actually. I have a Mountain Hardwear vest with a bunch of pockets I was wearing under a fleece jacket. I never go out without spare batteries or cards. It took only seconds to switch the batteries (the K-x uses 4 AA's) but in those seconds, the shot was gone.

No battery pack.............swapping out four 4A's in the cold when your fingers aren't working is a real pain. IS there a battery lower level viewer on the K-x? Were you using rechargeable or standard? I know .....so many questions.

No the K-x uses 4 AA's only. The newer K-r gives you the option of using a battery pack or AA's, which is kind of a nice option. Sort of the way grips work. You have the option of one or the other.

But in my case though, it wasn't cold yesterday, it was unseasonably in the 50's. I picked up a set of new Sanyo eneloop rechargeable batteries cause I heard so much about them. And everything they say about them are true! I put these batteries in 3 weeks ago and they finally died yesterday. My camera has a battery life indicator but I just want to see how long they would go before completely dieing. Unfortunately they died in a critical moment. But fortunately I bought 8 eneloops and I was back in action in no time. But unfortunately I missed the shot.

367 all together. I posted 4 of them in the People SYS section. I just haven't had enough time yet to really sit down and go through the batch properly. I'll post more as I go through it!

Do you just have the one battery in the camera? I often use a vert grip which holds 2 batteries

No, my camera holds 4 AA batteries only. And no grip is available for it either.
