So we have a new point and shoot camera for the holidays. Since it does not shoot RAW like our DSLR, whats your thoughts on organizing the files? For example, I have a bunch of pictures from Christmas Day that I took with the DSLR (RAW files) and then a few taken with the point and shoot (JPEG). Is it best to keep them separate or since they are of the same event they should stay together. If they stay together then there will be two different file types.
What do you all do with situations like this where you have two camera photographing the same event? Last edited by codeblue2k; 12-30-2010 at 10:37 PM. |

If I am looking for a file, I am always looking for it relative to the event or keywording. As a result, the file type is of little interest interest to me as far as where it is stored. I'd store all images of an event together. Just my 2 cents worth.

I personally don't like to mix my P&S shots with my DSLR ones, so I keep them in separate directories. Plus, I shoot RAW + jpg, so I don't want to mix my DSLR jpgs with the P&S ones.

Since I use lightroom I let it put the files together in it's default "date/time" structure... I can use a metadata filter to separate files by type, by which camera model, or even by camera serial#
