Pretty much anything from TSO, but this is my absolute all-time favorite.
YouTube - Christmas Eve/ Sarajevo [Timeless Version] ETA: Okay, this one too. Makes me cry every time I hear it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eA0vP...eature=related

Grandma got run over by a reindeer.
Straight no Chaser has great versions of many traditional songs. YouTube - Straight No Chaser - 12 Days (original from 1998) |

And I do have to admit, there is just nothing cuter than watching a 5 year old headbang as she decorates the Christmas tree while listening to that song. |

I forgot to mention. My all time Holiday faves are probably the Bing Crosby and David Bowie duet of The Little Drummer Boy, I also like Carol of the Bells, and pretty much anything Burl Ives did. |

Aside from TSO, the others you mentioned kinda freaked me out. I'm starting to think you and I are twins that were separated at birth. |

Yes. Yes. and Yes again. Also love their Christmas Canon....not the rock version. YouTube - Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Canon (Video) I've heard a different version of this on the radio this year w/a woman singing and I like that one as well. Last year, my daughter's 5th grade orchestra played Pachebels Canon at their holiday concert. She was one of the lead violins and the orchestra totally nailed it. It has been one of my favorite songs for years and needless to say, I was reduced to sobs at 9:30am in the school auditorium. Had to hide behind the program (/end of shameless proud mother blathering).I have seen TSO 2x. The first time it was just beautiful and fantastic. The second time it was just very loud. I like the quieter versions of some of their songs but they had the amps set on "ear splitting" and I've been afraid to buy tickets again ever since. Wondering how they've been this year. Oh, and Nicole? Thank you for posting this. I am now listening to beautiful Christmas music, snow is gently falling outside my picture window and I'm working on a photo collage for our ski team in my PJ's. Heaven :-). |
