I just signed up for Flickr yesterday and uploaded pictures I took. I uploaded more today and found out they have a 300MB a month limit. Is there a better picture hosting website out there? I am new to the photography field so I am taking a lot of pictures but only uploading the pictures that I think are decent. Does anybody use anything other than Flickr?
Thanks, Dan |

For a community, with spe******ed groups, covering a huge number of subjects it is great.
On Flickr I do have a pro account and normally only upload only my better pics, usually about 3-4 per day (unless It is a motor racing event). I do not use it for a "dumping ground" I almost never upload anything larger than1920x1080 pixels (maximum) For displaying photographs it is only fair. Where presentation counts I use Zenfolio (it is not free) For that I use Zenfolio for displaying pics from shoots etc, however no communities there.

I think all the photo hosting websites out there works as the same: they give you a free limited service (broadband or storage capacity) and if you want to use more then you have to pay for the service.
I have a pro account with flickr since november last year, and for me it has worth every penny, I have around 3,000 images already hosted there and because of that, even though I am not a professional photographer and do not make my income from my images, I have been contacted to be paid in order to grant licenses of some of my photos. Puttin aside the fact of making money out of your photography work, I think flickr is the best place to host photographs because the image quality is amazing, the site does not degrade the photo quality like other hosting sites. Also when you have the pro account, you have access to other tools like statistics. I have a free account in imageshack, but I use that only for snapshots and for sharing images that has nothing to do with my photography, so far is the only hosting site that I´ve seen you can upload as many images as you want and the membership payment is kind of optional, but the image quality is not as good as flickr´s. |

I like Flickr. I dont have a pro account because I dont need it at the moment. I do however have a pro account on DeviantArt. Mainly because its less that $10 a year. Although there isnt much on it, and I never check it. lol
