Default Here's an odd one!

Message:Hi Jim... I work remotely from Washington state so do not have a phone that you can contact me with. We have a photo of yours that has been submitted that may be used with an article. It is an indoor photo and was taken this year apparently. I'm trying to find out where/when more specifically. We'll need a contract release from you for the magazine. Please get in touch with me at the address given so that we can correspond and so that we can send you a contract. I can't guarantee the photo will be used, but all the parameters are spelled out in the contract. Many Thanks... Marcille
They don't have phones in WA?

Yeah, that was my initial thought too, but it turns out (or so she says), it's for Clean Run Magazine and she sent me their payment schedule.

Very odd way to start out though.

So, I gently educated the handler on image submissions and copyright. I got this back:

Quote:
oh sorry jim,

i thought this was my camera that took this picture. i have so many pictures of the PISA building that i have no way of knowing who took what.

sorry if i offended you in anyway.

i do not have nor have i ever aquired permission from you for anything.

if you choose not to use the picture for clean run, then i can always find another one.
Of course the image has my SIGNATURE on it plain as day!

Forgive me if I dont understand, but is she trying to say she thought she owned one of your photos?

She, the handler/owner of the dog - not the editor, is saying she thought SHE took the photo. I try not to make my signature overly intrusive, but I KNOW it's visible in the copy she sent to the magazine since they sent a copy to me.

You can always tell when they use no capital letters and punctuation.

Maybe she lives in an area where reception is bad. I use Verizon, although there are some iphone A.T. & T users here bitch a lot because of the poor coverage. I can't wait till the Verizon iphone comes out.
