Default Annoying as hell!

That return to school ad at the top of the page is really annoying as hell.

I don't see it either (using Firefox) from Australia.
Maybe the ads are targeted to the country of origin of the user.
I see (mostly) just ads for things here in Australia.

I don't see a return to school ad.
There is an 'ad by Google' banner. It has some text stuff with links that's easily ignored.

firefox user in the us. i don't have any ads at all. never do.

I use both Safari and Firefox, maybe it's just targeted to us Americans.

I use adblock plus on Firefox and do not see it at all. In the U.S. on the California Coast. My adblock shows 7 items blocked for this page.
