Default Just the girls

How much do you pay for a cut and style, color or highlight, waxing, nails, etc? One time, yearly? Whatever you feel like sharing.

I have a wonderful stylist, been going to her for about 3 yrs. Love her! The salon that she is with has awesome prices.
Today, I got my roots done, cut, style, and eyebrow waxing. My bills was $46 before tip.
One of my friends in North Carolina was amazed that my bill was so low.
I only get this all done about every 6-8 weeks, so it's not too much over a yearly basis. I never get my nails done because I hate fake nails plus my real nails are very nice naturally. I have no idea how much that costs. I *think* a full set of fakes is about $30.
How much is this kind of stuff where you live?

I get my hair done very 6 weeks. £30 for cut and blow dry. Its about the going rate for where I live. I have it done with the owner of the salon too.

My sis lives in London and for a birthday treat she paid for me to have my hair cut and blow dried and it cost £80 and that was without the owner!

I WISH I could get all that done for only $46!

My cut, color and highlights run about $150, and because I'm nearly totally gray without the color, I go every 5-6 weeks. My hair *never* looks as good if I try to do the color out of the box, so it's an expense I've chosen to live with, and it's far less money than some of my friends spend on Starbucks during the same 5-6 week period. I get my brows waxed maybe 4 times a year (I've been doing it for awhile now, so there's very little maintenance), and only do professional mani-pedis in the summer, once every 2-3 weeks at $30 (for both, not each). I don't do the fake nails either, just have them shape them up, buff and polish. FWIW, I live in a suburb north of Houston.

I agree with your friend, you're getting an amazing bargain.

Ha! Sorry. Didn't mean to discriminate, but men's stuff is always on a different pricing scale.
When hubby goes to the barber, they DO trim his eyebrows, his goatee and they shave his ears. EWWWW! I would die if I had hair growing from my ears like he does. LOL!

I just got my hair cut a few days ago. I went to a salon in the mall here, and it cost me $59 total. That was a deep conditioning treatment for $10, + shampoo, cut, blow dry, then straighten for $39 + I gave the girl a $10 tip because she was amazing. I have naturally curly hair and have had some very bad experiences with some stylists before. To illustrate what an awesome job this girl did,... I shall post before and after photos.

You cant really tell it, but my hair goes into ringlets towards the bottom. I dont do acrylic nails because my own are usually fine. I've had them once, and one of them broke taking part of my nail bed with it. Never again. I dont much go for the mani-pedi's either. I dont normally get my hair cut that often, but I might now that I've found an awesome stylist. I dont do color because its too expensive and I dont mind my natural color. If I do color, its from a box, and its usually a shade of red, because I have red tones already. It costs my husband less than $10 to get his hair cut. Since hes military, he gets the typical military cut, and has to do it about once every two weeks or so.

NIcole, your husband looks very similar to mine. He has a goatee too. It costs him zero! What he does from time to time is once it gets too out of control he shaves the whole thing off and is beard free for a week or so and then bam! goatee is back. He's getting close to 50 so his eyebrows are now beginning to get a bit "spiders legs" but won't lets me anywhere near him with tweezers as he's a "mans man" and thinks tweezers are girls stuff lol!

With his hair he just gets the clippers out and shaves all over.

I`m not a girl, but I wanted to take this opportunity to point out how lucky you are, that you are not living in Japan - where most of the cheaper prices for a haircut, is easily 40 dollars, for me, a simple men`s haircut. I`d tell them not to give me the head / shoulder massage and wash my hair too - but they wouldn`t lower the price - so.. yeah --- but no nails for me.... My wife spends alot more when she goes - luckily she has really long hair so it`s not that often...

Because any thread can benefit from, nay, needs a Japanese perspective (or at least that of a foreigner who lives there, wheee!)

TIP? They have a job to do, you pay them. This whole tipping thing is getting crazy. Doesnt she get paid? Waiters and waitresses should be the only people to get tips. Even StarSucks and SubWay for crying out loud...have tip jars. Why? those people get above minimum wage. I went on a flight two weeks ago and used the curbside check-in, paid for my bags, and started to walk off. The man said "sir! the gratuity is not included in the bag check fee!"
Gratuity? For doing your job? Of course I tipped him, only because I wanted my bag to get there, not go to Nova Scotia....
I hate tipping. Just charge me what you need to charge me, and be done with it.
