Default Urgh, Amazon vs Suntrust

Man, I am frustrated. I bought a whole bunch of stuff over the weekend from Amazon for Christmas presents.
I just found out today that my transaction was flagged as suspicious activity, my order was canceled and my debit card was blocked.
I found this out the hard way in line at the grocery store check-out.
I got my card unblocked but now I have to re-order almost $1000 worth of stuff. That took a lot of searching to find all that stuff in the first place. I hope that I can somehow recover the original order info and just re-enter the item numbers. It was the majority of our 6 kids Christmas presents
Anyways, I understand why they do this. I am glad that they do this.
But MAN is it frustrating to deal with. And so so embarrassing to have your card declined while in line at the store. Because you KNOW that they don't believe you when you say "I don't understand. There is plenty of money on this card."

Yep, same thing happened to us while we were on vacation. A large out of state transaction got us flagged. Supposedly, the chances of that would have been reduced if we had called the bank ahead of time to let them know we would be traveling.

Yeah, it's funny. Last summer, went spent 10 days and an ungodly amount of money in Florida and Disney world. No flagging at all. But I spend money on Bakugans, Transformers, and bunch of other stuff to junk up the house with, just three weeks before Christmas and I get flagged?
I just wonder what sort of controls are in place that actually flag the transaction?

How frustrating, Nicole.

I think we're lucky - our bank calls us when they spot what they think might be strange activity. Nothing stopped unless we tell them to. And yeah, we call them before we travel to let them know what country we'll be in just to avoid hassles. I think it said somewhere on their website to do so.

Under your account you can find past orders and you will see the items in question.

If it makes you feel any better. Since I've worked as a cashier for way too many years now. My first question when I see a card declined is,..Have you used this card a lot lately? I think it makes the person feel not so embarrassed when you say it like that other than announcing to everyone in line that its declining your card. For instances like that, or like my card has a cap on it. I cant spend more than a certain amount in, I think, a day. I even had this guy earlier today that that happened to, and I asked him that. He said "Yeah, I just used it earlier today for a transaction in Colorado. My daughter needed money." So, I told him that he should probably just call the bank and let them know its not a stolen card.

It's not hard when it costs $5 for a bottle of water. It's ridiculous how much everything costs there.

Thats horrible!! Well at least you foundout before awaiting the delivery a few days from now! Yes, as someone else mentioned you should be able to find it in past orders. It would be nice if they just had a "reorder" button Taht would be too easy! The original ordering is time consuming enough, i can't imagine having to go back in and do it ALL OVER AGAIN!!! Good luck!!

How frustrating for you and especially for hunting down special kids prezzies. I'm still reeling from the shock of you having 6 kids! I have only 2 and they drive me nuts. You must be a very patient woman!

On a serious note last December (4 days before Christmas) I had my bank account frauded and someone cleared my account! I got the money back eventually but still, banks have to be careful especially at this time of the year. Its an inconvience for you but I hope you get it sorted.
