Default flat images on flicker (mine)

hey, i've never had this problem before, but i've just noticed that the last few photos i've put on flicker look shit, all fadded and just yuck, hell they look better on facebook. but from my harddrive in CS4 they are perfect. where am i going wrong ?

I shot the image in RAW, edit in C/RAW, saved as JPEG, re-opened the JPEG (looked fine in CS4 (and microsoft explorer for that matter)) resized to 1600x1067 (for uploading to web) and saved as quality 12 an then put it on facebook, and flicker.

The above image is from flicker, i can't link you to facebook

Check in what colour space they are? Is it sRGB? Maybe that's causing the difference, but I'm just guessing.

Edit: I just checked it, the photo you gave us from flickr is in ProPhoto colour space.

argh, that'll do it. so how come facebook isn't affected, one would thought it would be the reverse

possibly good i found that... could have been bad when i give my uncle his Wedding CD after i edit them... would he have ran into issues at the printer ? (like clearly i could have just changed the setting, but still)

...chi-ching...

Facebook just applies their own compression, further crappifying your photos.

I guess it also depends on your screen. Here, the first image looks awesome, the second is great but looks flatter than the first :P

Teehee....my new favorite word. Next time I post sneak peeks for clients, you think they'll be offended if I put in a disclaimer apologizing for Facebook's "crappification"?

You should also inform them that the reason you're "delayed" is that you're afraid that they'll suffer from instant crappification.
