Default Resources

I just got my first DSLR a few days ago, a Nikon D3100. I have no clue how to use it! LOL OK, I have some clue, but I would really like to understand more about using the great features on my camera. We have a great library system here and I was wondering what are some of your favorite resources for taking great photos. Thanks!

Don't take it personal. Just having some fun! What are you interested in shooting? If you give us an idea, maybe we can point you in the right direction. You haven't given us much to go on, except that you have a new camera.
Welcome to DPS by the way!

Edit: I will probably get flamed for this, but Ken Rockwell usually breaks down the features of cameras in to legible chunks that are easier to understand than the manual. I would advise you to stay away from his recommended saturation adjustments. Unless you want crazy colors and neon looking people!

Check out the D3000 project at Photography, Digital Camera & Lightroom Tips — FroKnowsPhoto Welcome to the D3000 Super Secret Project

He does a series of videos introducing the basics of ISO, shutter speed, depth of field, etc. Everything he's going with the D3000 should apply to any other system.

Thank you for the links. I've gone through the manual (I have also watched the Nikon school video regarding my camera) so I know where settings are adjusted, but I really just don't know what to do with that information. My husband keeps reminding me that he didn't buy me an expensive point & shoot. I have a 6 month old daughter who is my main subject.

Oh know you just didn't I usually urge people not to go to his site as so much of his content is misleading and very biased and sometimes just so very, very wrong.

Ok so lets start here. You have a beautiful baby for a model...and you understand the operation of your camera but not sure when to set what? yes? Pick a recent picture you were unhappy with and tell us what you didn't like about the way it turned out.
