Default Las Vegas - Cameras in Casinos?

I'm planning to take a trip out to Las Vegas next month and wanted to bring along my DSLR (of course).

Are cameras allowed in casinos? Are DSLRs looked at differently, since you could always have a point and shoot in your pocket out of view but a DSLR is usually hanging over your shoulder?

I guess there are a million places I could research this but I thought I would try here....
I'm thinking maybe taking pictures is what is not allowed, but simply having a camera on your person is fine.

On another note, any good recommendations of good spots to take photos -- beyond the obvious locations along the strip and hotels....

I went a couple of years ago and they flipped out when I walked in with my gear. I saw others taking photos and were asked to put it away when pulled out. As for pictures...........outside the casino's at night. There's one hotel that has a water fountain display synched to music. I shot the display and it was great. Here's the site. Good information, thanks!

So, sounds like I wont be forbidden from entering or taking pictures in the non-gaming areas..

I will just have to make sure it is off and capped should I decide to sit at the sportsbook or the blackjack table.
