That what I'd like everyone else out there to think as well, but unfortunately it does't deter those kit lenses trying. You're smart on both accounts, but you have a kick butt lens.
Even though it sucks money and is a royal PITA, I find this profession very challenging and rewarding.

Yeah, if it wasn't a PITA sometimes it wouldn't be a "JOB" and you wouldn't get paid to do it.

I was self employed for many years in a field I liked quite a lot..HUGE PITA. Now I have a great job, get paid quite well, truly enjoy it 80-90% of the time, get personal satisfaction from, great benefits, etc etc...STILL a PITA at times.

You really can't understand what a huge PITA it is to be (entirely) self employed unless you've done it...
