Default Another silly question

Hi! So I'm getting ready to purchase a desk top to do more editing on pics, right now i just have a laptop. I have a friend who is upgrading and has a Imac 5g. I know nothing about a Mac. Is this a decent computer and would it work with editing software? I haven't bought anything yet, was prob just goign to start low with Photoshop. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The iMac G5 is a good computer, however both Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3 require Intel processors so you you be limited to CS4 and older and Lightroom 2 and older versions of software. I have CS4 and Lightroom 3 and I love both. I have never tried CS5 but I dont use PS that much, about 90-10 LR vs. PS. Also the G5 has a maximum of 2 gb memory, I think. The screen is big and bright 23 or 26 inch but have it calibrated. I never used mine for PP though, I use my MacBook Pro(s) for that, both Intel, because of the mobility factor as I hate sitting in the home office and I can take them to work.
