Default ready to participate now

Hello! I have been reading DPS all year. I've always loved photography but have only ever used point and shoot cameras until June. After much indecisiveness, even during the hour I spent in the store just before I purchased it, I finally chose the Canon Rebel T1i. I am having fun learning to use it, with the help of a couple of online courses and Jeff Revell's book, Canon Rebel T1i: From Snapshots to Great Shots.

I'm ready to start participating, and eager to get feedback on my photos. I'm feeling a little tentative though, not wanting to post in the wrong place. I do want feedback, so I think I'm going to go ahead and post a landscape after I send this.

Welcome! This is a great forum to use as sounding board for your work. Folks here generally have an uncanny way for being able to offer useful, valid criticism without it becoming "personal". You'll find lots of good folks here who are eager to help you as you grow in your skills. Glad to have you here!

Hi there, Michele, and welcome! Glad you finally posted. I'm looking forward to seeing whatcha got, LOL.

There is every single level of photographer here, from brand-spankin' new newbie to seasoned professionals, and everything in between. I'd say the majority of the thousands of members are helpful and nice, but as with any forum, you get the occasional jackwagon, lol. Take it all in stride, don't take anything personally, and learn from the feedback you get. Feel free to ask any questions you have. My own motto is that the only stupid question is the one NOT asked - but also keep in mind there is a search feature, so definitely utilize that, because there are several topics that do come up often and there's already loads of info regarding those topics there. Also check out the FAQ's, since you seemed a bit tentative about posting.

Again, welcome! Don't be shy, we look forward to getting to know you!
