Default New Canon T1i

My wife just bought a T1i with a 18-55mm kit lens. We shot some pictures outdoors in very bright sunlight and the pictures looked kind of washed out or maybe under exposed. If need be I can put some pics up later. She shot them mainly in the automatic mode. Not sure if we need to get a polarizer for her or where to start. My 7D was fine but I shot mainly in priority mode. I also had a cpl on my lens. Indoors the pics look fine to me.

Just looking for a place to start!!!!

post some samples with the EXIF data if you want guys to give a decent answer.
Bright sunlight can cause all kinds of contrast and metering issues.

We looked at her settings again tonight.
She shot some of the pics in Priority. The ISO was set at 800. Found it when we looked at the exif data.
We'll keep playing with it.

Errrrr..

"P" = Program mode
"Av" = Aperture Priority mode. (Aperture value)
"Tv" = Shutter Priority mode (Time value)
"M" = Manual mode.

I have no idea what you mean by "Priority mode", but I'd guess you meant P?

P=Program
Sorry about that...
I'll be more clear next time I ask for advice!
Thanks

Love my t1i - but mine seems to suffer from wanting to overexpose stuff. Ive gotten away from shutter/aperature priority and gone more manual, however there are times when stuff is changing too fast for my manual skills, and I'll pop it into TV or AV and dial the exposure compensation down a stop or two.
When its in the bag ready to go at a moments notice, I typically leave it on Program Mode just in case. I
I have pulled it out and snapped a picture before, only to forget it was still set in Manual from a dark nighttime shoot. A two second shutter speed in bright daylight tends not to work.
