Default Sea Spray Cleaning Camera

I shot a few pictures at the beach yesterday and the wind was pretty heavy and there was so much sea spray that it looked like fog. After only a few minutes of being there my eyeglasses were covered in spray, not to mention my camera. I have a filter on my lens, so I know that was protected, but what about the exterior of the camera and lens. I wiped everything down with a "baby wipe" and cleaned my filter with a lens cloth. Should I do anything else? Is there a "special" cleaner for the exterior of the camera?

...any help would be appreciated.

Well...is it clean? If it is then don't worry about it.

I'd be more worried about any of the spray getting into the interior, salt isn't very good for mechanisms. Though wait for someone else to confirm this before panicking.

Well, it looks clean. ...just like before I got there. As far as the interior, I can only hope nothing got in. I didn't change lenses outside so I'm good there. Who knows if there are other ways inside. I guess time will tell.

Is there a way to protect you camera if you plan on shooting in crappy conditions? I guess there is always plastic bags and duct tape!

I call this beach scum. We get it really bad during noreasters.

I've shot for hours in it with a D80, and D300. All I do is wipe everything down with an old t shirt lightly dampened with water. Then I'll take the lens off, put caps/covers on everything, and let it sit out a day or so before putting everything back in my Pelican Case.

Those cases are pretty much air, and water tight. I sure don't want to put a damp lens or body in there for fear of mold growing in them.

Good old beach scum covers everything. I lived 1,500 foot from the ocean for a couple years. No way to keep cars, or house windows clean during the winter months.

I would just run mine under the shower or faucet for a bit to clean it off. But then again, I have a Pentax.

So does he I could be wrong but I don't think the K-x has the same sort of waterproof capabilities as some their other models though
