Godaddy is not the way to go at all. The reason is that they are on the "abusive hosts" list which means when it come to hotmail, aol, and many other providers your email goes to the internet black hole and never reaches your client. Go daddy does not care to fix this in anyway. Also when calling tech support they will not tell you this. This is all made possible by spammers and hackers that use godaddy to spread their BS.
Before choosing a hosting service check them out on MX Lookup Tool - Check your DNS MX Records online - MxToolbox I mention this because it has been mentioned again and again in many other threads. I have moved to fatcow.com. Now I am not one of their shills, but I am glad to be hosting on a service that is not on the abusive hosts list. At least my email does not go to the internet black hole anymore.

Some other tips... If you are serious, pay the bit extra for a dedicated IP. This helps to ensure you don't show up on a blacklist accidently. It also is the first step to getting an SSL certificate for your site which you may need/want some day.
As a small web hosting start-up (literally just starting up - launching full service in end Jan.) I offer business clients to at least get on an IP where every other site sharing that IP is approved by me. They are all legitimate small businesses. I also offer dedicated IP's and standard shared IP's but for any serious business you want to at least have a some what monitored IP so that you are not sharing an address with a porn site or hate site (this happened to me on GoDaddy before I had my own servers) Tech support is worth paying for... You get what you pay for and having people on the other end that have a clue is worth the few extra dollars. Remember that most web servers are running a version of Linux and those that aren't are running IIS. Niether software package is exectly friendly if you are just a normal computer user (including most of the 'advanced' users). That being said, with the right host there is no need for most people to pay for the silly expensive extra support options. Not until you are making enough from your site to justify the expense. ie: it is less than 5-10% of your revenue.

I rather like the fatcow customer service. They answer the phone in 3 minutes or less and they have been able to help me with all of my needs small and large. All for about $5 a month.

Nope! Poor business practices of GD.
This subject has come up before. Go Daddy has tons of complaints against it. They are notorious for bait and switch. I wouldn’t give my business to them ever again if they were the last hosting company on earth! |

Maybe you don't consider this an issue for your business but on the same server with the same IP as os-am.com(which is how many places block sites) there are 795 other domains. asainloveave.org is likely a front for an emailer, dead site and private domain registration. canadiansexstore.com looks like a legit business but it may cause some companies or net nannies to block your site. piratepcs.com, again likely harmless but may be blocked just because of the word pirate.
The server you are on is fairly empty. Most run about 2500-5000 sites for each IP and you can guarantee that some of those are illegitimate. I noticed this when my day job blocked my first site just because of the IP it had. When I called about it, the tech had no clue. None. He couldn't even get me a private IP. When I cancelled and asked for my money back, well let's just say I am still waiting. Some money back guarantee.

Frankly, I've never had a problem with the site, never had complaints about either it being unavailable or about GoDaddy. You've had a bad experience, and that sucks, but I haven't. That's what matters to me.
