I will be shooting family pics this weekend for a friend of mine. Nornally I shoot with natural light, and in most cases, outdoors. My friend is asking for "studio' looking pics. I have not had much experience in this area, specifically using back drops & lights.
I currently shoot with a Nikon D90, SB-600, and a reflector. I have back drops, and a back drop stand, but that's it. I was thinking of getting a shoot thru umbrella, & bouncing it off the reflector. Do you think this will work, and provide the professional results she is looking for? Any advise would be most appreciated. Wendy I

An umbrella is a good start, though you wouldn't need to bounce it off the reflector--you'd be better off using the reflector for fill.
You really need at least one additional light though. Something to separate your subject from the background.
