You would think a college grad would be able to make more than $20.00 for a 2 hour session and post processing.

And for someone who's been into it for six years.

This is the reason why DPS is damn good. Within a month of shooting I have the knowledge to charge what I should rightfully charge.

He should come hither!

I wouldn't even come out and look at someone much less take pictures for $10 an hour. Right now I have a promised number of "acceptable print worthy" images and charge $8.75 an image on disc with professional printed proofs and a reference to a reasonable pro printer across the river that can even do canvass gallery wraps.

I wish I could find a humorous craigslist post from my area, but most of them are too busy undercutting each other while promising the disc as well. Had actually considered dropping my price but I will not work for free like these guys. As is I can't afford a studio much less the $30 per 2 hours session at the local rental studio.

Here's hoping things will change locally. This summer I plan to get down right "political" with them. Always the pretty web site with the cr@ppy photos. Mine is the other way around; it is utilitarian.

If this person is an example of the lastest college grads, we may never be able to nuke them from space. Hell, we may end up throwing rocks at them.

Damn it, its people like this that give the rest of us under 30's a bad name. (Although I'm only 4 years away from 30) Just because you have a degree and supposedly the latest equipment, does not mean that they know how to take good photos. The sad part, is that the general public is none the wiser on what really makes a photo good. Oh, it's my precious lil angel, look how cute s/he is! While to us photographers were going,..its out of focus, over exposed, and not really that interesting.
