Default Who doesn't love new toys?

Y'know how it is... you get a new toy and you get all excited and can't wait to tell people about it. So, I came here to shamelessly show off.

I wanted a long telephto, I have the 18-200 vrII and it's all good but just doesn't quite reach far enough and isn't sharp enough at the long end. I also wanted something that would be compatible on both my d90 and my old film camera (FE)
I really can't afford 2k for a nice new vr 2.8 dealie...

So, I waited with patience and an open eye...

In the store they had for about $200 a Nikkor 70-300mm F/4-5.6 ED that I was thinking about getting, but the reviews of it that I saw said it was a little soft on the long end... and since it was the long end that I was buying it for, I deicded to pass.

Then... I walked in to the store the other day and saw it; a 300mm f/4 prime, going for about $400 (usd). Still in my budget, an extra 100mm on my other lens, and was compatible with my FE.

Unfortunately, those b-tards put a 80-200mm f2.8 ED right next to it for the same price.
gah! f2.8! what to get!?

In the end, I decided that I don't shoot much indoor sports or other low light action to really need 2.8, and I went for the 300;

Used my d90 to take the photos so here's the lens on the FE
Nikon FE + Nikkor 300mm AF f4 ED (4)

Nikon FE + Nikkor 300mm AF f4 ED (2)

And, using the d90 - some shots from around my home before the sun went down.

thanks for reading, and sorry to waste your time showing off like a giddy little school girl.

Looks very good.
I would have jumped at the 300 F4 also.

And on the D90 that's a 450mm equivalent!
