I attended a function at my grandaughters school this week and I found something very odd. At least to me it was odd.
They had 4 stations set up inside the school where you could have your picture taken with the little students. I noticed that every one of these young photographers had polarizers on their lenses. I'm wondering what the reason was. For the glare off of people's glasses or just to bring more color out? It's bugged me all week...

They were polarizers. Black on the front of the lens and couldbn't see thru them. I use UV's on my own and use polarized filters outdoors.

Maybe they were students or were just given the cameras to take pics and the person that owned them didn't really tell them much about photography?

I guess that's possible. I just wondered if I had missed something along the way and was never educated on using polarizers indoors. lol

CPL's do two things. Primarily cut glare, and with fidgety kids w/ glasses and strobes I can see their benefit. Secondly, they can provide some "separation/pop" to colors...might help them to stand out from the background used, especially if the lighting was pretty strong and mostly frontal.
I personally haven't used them indoors, but it might be worth a try.
