Question how to acheive this technique???

I have a question for everyone. i've been seeing the technique on peoples profiles with several images converted to some sort of a video image or something...such as windrider with her flashing camera! I have no idea what this technique is called and how to create one or the software needed to create one. my interest is mainly for a senior shoot i have coming up i thought i might use it for a male who is an allstar basketball player and can dunk the ball....originally just thought about a multiplicity shot for it....but now i thought i could do the multiplicity and then make it a video for his facebook profile perhaps. how many images can you put in one of those images at once to play? just an idea.....hope someone can enlighten me on the topic!!!!

thanks in advance for your information!

You either A) wont be able to upload them to facebook (I believe FB is .jpg only) and B) if you can they wont actually play. You'll just get one frames.

I think it's more A) though.
