Hi All! I am new to this site today and am excited to have found it! I have been a hobbyist photographer for over a year and am still working on my techniques, etc. My pictures usually revolve around my children and other children. However, beginning yesterday, I have started my 365 project. I was just wondering if any of you have tried, completed or wanted to try one? Basically take one picture a day for a year with hopes of major improvement. I know I will need some motivation and encouragement! Anyway, I look forward to sharing my pics and seeing all of yours!

Did it when I first joined flickr in 2006.. was waaay difficult, but way worth it.
And feel free to post here if you want more specific help/suggestions/critique..

Welcome to this wonderful world of photography, good choice.

It's a great idea, go for it!! I follow someone on Twitter who's doing this and I think it really does a few things... 1) it gives me as a follower something to look forward to every day, and 2) I believe it gets you motivated to go out there and PRACTICE every day. They say that practice makes perfect and me personally, I learn by trial and error. Good luck and please post where you are planning on hosting these so some of us can follow?

365 is a fun project IF you can keep up with it!

I tried twice and failed both times half way through the year. So then I attempted to do a 52 weeks project, and thats was much easier to keep up on.

To look back at all the photos is very rewarding! It's nice to see the captures of forgotten moments and to see the progress in your skills along the way.

Being at almost day 300 of my 365, I can safely say that while some days show progress, other days show sheer, abject laziness on my part. But sometimes that's all I can manage is a quick shot with a phone or whatever. It's a huge commitment as has been said. Good luck with yours!

The best advice I can give is to post it somewhere with other like-minded people so you have some extra motivation to continue when they comment on it.

Never tried it, but I think if I do something like that it will be as stella suggested, a 52 week project, good luck on your 365 and welcome.

Kudos on the 52! I'm a complete slacker!!! I didn't even keep up with my 52 this year. It could have been because it was with a Flickr group and the weeks were Sunday through Saturday which for some reason didn't really work for me. I'll probably try it again on my own for 2011.

I think I got 4 weeks in to my 52 before I failed. After I saw all the progress the others in the group on flickr were making, I sort of got sick to my stomach!

Good luck with it, and welcome aboard!

I started a 365 in January, but only made it half way through the year - I caught a major case of winter duldrums and lost interest. Also, I discovered PS, and found I couldn't make the commitment to photographing and pp-ing every day.. Slacker!

I am thinking I might try a 52 project in the new year.

Best of luck.
