SD cards VS CF cards

So I'm getting the urge to upgrade to the D300s, and I know that it takes both SD cards and CF cards... so that made me wonder, if you have the option of using either one, which is better to use?

CF cards are tougher, but mainly theyre FASTER. Even Panasonic's Class 10 cards are only 22mb/s, where as my Extreme III cards are 30.

They're faster? That link that scooter posted, there's a table and it looks like the read/write speeds are the same between the two :?

CF cards are more durable. If you leave one in your pocket and it gets washed..just set it out to dry for six hours or so and it still works. I know!

haha, i askd the exact same question here when i bought my D300s

CF are tougher and have higher transfer speeds. (my CF's are 60mbps my SD's aren't over 30mbps)

you may also want to know, if you dont already,
the dual slots thing isnt so you can choose which card type you want, its more a back-up and memory expansion thing.

IE, you can write jpeg to one, and Raw to the other (by bye card failure woes)
create a duplicate on each card
or use it as an overflow

hahaha! I did that with an SD card just last week... I haven't tried to see if it still works yet though. haha

Unfortunately, I have it on pretty good authority that "we should all be ready to go to SD cards."

That pretty much sucks for folks like me who have a small fortune tied up in dozens of large CF cards, so I hope my source is wrong.
