Man! Does everyone live in super sunny places except me? I'm beginning to think so based on all the people saying that they use natural light because there's so much sun by them lol

Not really. I think for the most part, the issue of light usage will depend on what subjects the person prefers.

I prefer nature photography, and really unless you use a macro ring, there aren't many times that a flash is going to help. So we rely on natural light. We're outside anyway, so that's the way to go!

I'm sure if I did a lot of portraits I would utilize flash one way or another, and also if I was into stock photography with a light box. When I take pictures of our basement remodeling, and pics of the kids on their birthday I almost always use my flash.

Yeah, but when it's raining... and you have to have all your lights on just so it doesn't seem like dusk at noon.... There was a reason I got a waterproof P&S

I definately try to use natural light. I don't have an external flash... yet... so I try to find the best natural light. I have started using the on board flash more often, but still don't always like the flares I seem to get (still a newbie)

Natural light all the way. I don't use a flash unless I absolutely have to.

Flash on/off camera. Recently I've been playing around with my new flash extension cable so it's been mainly off camera. At this time of year in Finland there's basically no natural light available.

I do mostly natural light, but have started to explore the EV settings to use the built in flash at a low intensity (many times just to give a catch light in eyes)

I use my on camera flash the most, but mostly because I'm moderately new to photography, I have a very busy youngin, and I take pictures of her inside our dimly lit house a LOT. I think as my photography improves, already taking more pictures with a higher ISO instead of flash, and the summer months roll in I will start using natural lighting more. I may even experiment with some off camera lighting, but for now I am an on camera flash Junkie!

I like my light the same way I like my women... "Au Naturale"

I do have an off camera flash and hopefully I'll learn a thing or two from Strobist to be able to put it to good use sometime soon
