Default What aspects of photography do you love?

In the spirit of the opposite thread, let's discuss the reasons why we love photography?

As I mentioned in the other thread, I'm finding candid portraits and animal photography the most rewarding for myself, and possibly even sports or action in the future. Capturing things as they happen.

I think this is also because I really want to go out and meet people, interact and capture these moments now-a-days.

What about yours?

I especially love landscapes, cityscapes, plants, animals, food and candid people pixs because I love meeting the subjects and chatting— and of course PS processing.

I like landscapes and wildlife because they don`t involve people. UGH people

Hmmm, I like cities but I like small charming towns as well. I'm big on architecture. I like nature in general. Macros of flowers, waterfalls, and the wildlife that comes along with it. I try to look at something and think how could I take a picture of this, capture what I want, and make it NOT follow all the rules but still be an interesting picture. I try to look at it (that is whatever I'm shooting) with a different perspective. I'm not much on portraiture because well,...plainly put, it doesnt inspire me much. I could do it, but I dont know how good it would be. If it gives me inspiration, I'll take a picture of it.

What I love about photography is that it allows me to unleash my creativity.
I'm an engineer and all my life I used to think of physics, math and the like, but I've been into photography for a couple of years and have come to see things in a differente way. It's kind of a therapeutic activity to me.

Photography also apeals to my technical side, since all the gear is extremely sophisticated.

I have the best of both world.

I find that now when I watch films and TV shows, I can't help but look for the bokeh

Same here! Been a software engineer for 30+ years now and specialized in video for security markets. There is a direct translation of those skills to still photography.

For me, I love to capture architecture and landscapes. Architecture for some reason holds a special place in my heart, especially old and decrepit structures. There's something beautiful to me in an old building that's been well used and is in it's last stages of life. The stories the walls tell... I can feel those stories in the photos I capture. It's a form of expression and art that I love with all my heart.

Interesting that you both have said that. I’ve worked in a tech/science field all of my life but have also been very much involved with art. I probably use the left and right brain equally. I know a number of scientists who are artists and photographers. Leonardo da Vinci was both scientist and artist.

I very much like the computer/techinical PS processing aspect. The wet darkroom of years ago never intrigued me as much.

Everything is connected.

Great post, and I TOTALLY agree! In my younger years I was also a self-taught musician. I play all the instruments with a primary focus on electric guitar. I have made several albums myself in a digital studio I put together.... I feel I am equally artistic and scientific and use both parts of what little is left of my brain. LOL

Great post, thanks for sharing that!
