I have a chance to shoot on of these this coming weekend. There is a promise of a skirmish at "dusk" I am sure the lighting will be great. Is there any pointers you guys might have about shooting such and event?
I have 3 sd cards (2g and 2 4g) and a laptop to travel with to off load cards. I guess the temptation is to shoot boat loads and sort later. I know the civilized thing to do is wait for the right shot until something is happening - then keep shooting. Just like the rodeo.

Are you just going to one were you asked to photograph one? Any idea how close you will be able to get? This will pretty much dictate your shooting style. If you have free roam I could see this being a lot of fun. Get up close and go wide, also try getting low and wide maybe next to a "fallen" soldier while the battle rages on in the background. I could think of all sorts of cool things. Hopefully the light cooperates with you.
Don't forget to bring your musket!

Don't for get an extra battery or two. Shots with cannon and muzzle loader smoke can be dramatic and convincing. Have fun. I live near Gettysburg and reenactments are always a fun time.

We will have to see how this goes. I think this will be a good case of interpersonal politics.
