Default Apalling

Che Guevarra was a murdering thug who killed and signed execution orders for thousands of innocent Cubans. That is a fact. As such, I find his depiction on the "Guerilla Travel Photography" publication to be despicable and reprehensible. I only hope whoever chose it is innocently unaware of the evil brutality meted out by this cold blooded killer. If you are familiar with this popular image, but don't know who he was or what he did, I urge you to do a little reading and familiarize yourself with the horror he visited upon the Cuban people. And I urge DPS to remove this imagery immediately.

I've always kind of enjoyed the delicious irony of a staunch Marxist being exploited by numerous capitalistic companies for profit. In a manner of speaking, every time someone uses his face on a piece of merchandise, they're giving the finger to what Che stood for by making him a tool of the capitalists.

So, keep putting his picture on book jackets, t-shirts, etc. as far as I'm concerned.

But aren't there many figures in history who are notorious. Whether Famous or Notorious they are still a part of history, not publishing information (words and images) is tant amount to denying they existed or the actions they undertook ever happened.

LOL! I was thinking the same thing. I looked on the blog, and it seems the cover of the e-book has now been changed.

Putting all ethics issues aside; I think the new cover works better.

However, if I'm going to spend that much money on a book I'd want it in print and not as a pdf document.

Really like the lighting here. Getting a little hot on his brow, and maybe a touch noisy, but I think it adds to the image. Maybe drop the ISO a bit. Nice catchlights though.

Depends on the book. I love e-book and only purchase "coffee table" type books these days because the thousands of books library is running out of room. Still get too many of those.

Just because someone is a historical figure does not mean it is appropriate to portray their image anywhere or anytime. The travel photo ebook is not a history book. It is ostensibly a book on photo technique. It would be just as absurd to put a photo of Ted Bundy, or Pol Pot, or Adolph Hitler on the cover. Or on the cover of Sports Illustrated, a Dr. Suess book, or a Bible. My problem is that this image is widespread and displayed mostly by young ignorant and uniformed college and high school kids who think it is "cool". Yet they have no clue who Che was nor what he did. The truth of Che is sick and inhuman. There is no good reason to put his image on an instructional travel photo book. Just one man's opinion. DPS can do whatever they like.
